Haiti- Beyond The Ruins

After four summers of love and labor, my twelve “Haiti-Beyond The Ruin” panels are finally finished.     These door-size "portals" (80x32”) are my painted prayers that God's Kingdom come in fullness in Haiti.  I have tried to put vision to my inner groaning, grieving Haiti’s brokenness, celebrating its beauty, and imagining its restored destiny.  They stand together as witnesses, both to the destruction of the 2010 earthquakes, as well as championing each of the "Seven Spheres of Influence" critical to national restoration: Education, Government, Family, Religion, Business, Media, and the Arts.  It is my prayer that these paintings host conversations asking, "what does it take to restore a nation?", and become a catalyst in the search for an answer.  May God inspire us as individuals, communities, and nations to open the doors to a Haiti beyond the ruins.

We are planning a tour of these panels which includes a significant venue central to each of the seven spheres of influence.  I am honored to say the the show will launch from Cairn University in PA, where it’s first reception will coincide with the school’s 100th anniversary celebration on Oct. 5th, 2013.
